Photo Of The Day

This is the 3,650th(ish) photo I’ve taken for the
Photo of the Day
project I started 13 years ago.
I started it as an experiment in memory. A tribute to the trivial. A way to look for something beautiful, every day.

At face value, a single photo in this series might not look like much. They are intentionally raw and sometimes banal. But if you zoom out, you can actually see the seasons changing. You can watch each new leaf adding color and personality to the view from my current stoop, just as each new challenge adds character and color to the work of art that ends up being our life.

If we’ve hung out at all over the past 13 years, you’ll probably see some version of yourself in these pictures. Pixelated, perhaps. Developing, definitely.

Our memories fade, but our experiences leave lines like roadmaps that lead us back to the beginning: to that first hazy image that exists deep within all of us. The first memory.

Ever since I was a child with my Mickey Mouse 35mm, I’ve enjoyed recording memories. 13 years ago, I decided to do something about it.
